Willow by Julia Hoban

Synopsis: Seven months ago, on a rainy March night, sixteen year- old Willow’s parents died in a horrible car accident. Willow was driving. Now her older brother barely speaks to her, her new classmates know her as the killer orphan girl, and Willow is blocking the pain by secretly cutting herself. But when one boy—one sensitive, soulful boy—discovers Willow’s secret, it sparks an intense relationship that turns the “safe” world Willow has created for herself upside down.

Go read this now. Yeah just go. The story itself was beautiful and so well done. Willow is a wonderful character who deals with so much heartache. My only real issue with this book is Guy's attitude towards the end. When he first realizes that Willow is a cutter he bolts. Literally. He tries to run from her which is understandable. After the initial shock settles in he realizes that he cares for her very much. Towards the end though even after he understands her situation and helps her through some of it he still gets frustrated and freaks out on her. It was okay at the begining because that's how I thought he would act, but near the end I was tired of them having a nice conversation and suddenly Guy would flip out on Willow. It made me feel really bad for her. Other than that this was a wonderful book. 5/5
