The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

Summary:Meghan Chase has never fit in at her small-town high school, and now, on the eve of her 16th birthday, she discovers why. When her half brother is kidnapped, Meghan is drawn into a fantastical world she never imagined--the world of Faery, where anything you see may try to eat you, and Meghan is the daughter of the summer faery king. Now she will journey into the depths of Faery to face an unknown enemy . . . and beg the help of a winter prince who might as soon kill her as let her touch his icy heart. The Iron King is the first book in the Iron Fey series.

Review:I heard a lot of hype over The Iron King and I haven't read a good book about fey in a while so I decided to pick this one up. Well I'm glad that I did. I loved the story and how you are immediately thrust into Faerie with all its wonder and magic. My favorite character is Grim. I have to wonder, with all the reference to anime, if Julie is a fan of Bleach and if she might have modeled Grim after Yoruichi (who is my second favorite character in that series). They both have that attitude when first meeting the main characters of "Why are you so stupid? All of this should be obvious". Now I know a lot of Team Puck and Team Ash hype has been going on too, but to be honest I don't know whose side I'm on. Puck is the sweet best friend, but his pranks can be really childish at times. Ash is the super attractive obvious love interest, but he has his moments when he can be a jerk. I guess I'm stuck in the middle for now. I am so ready to read Winter's Passage. I'm happy I already downloaded it.

I AM a fan of Bleach, and I DO love Yoruichi, though I hadn't thought of him as Grim until now. ^__^ But he's definitely Yoruichi-esque, isn't he?

Thanks for the great review!
