Mental Health Resources

As important as it is to stand up for what you believe and let your voice be heard, you also need to make sure you are taking care of your health (mental, emotional, and physical) so you don't burn out. Below are a few places that have mentioned doing free or discounted therapy sessions for Black people.

Ethel's Club currently has a waitlist as all their current sessions are full. But sign up for the wait list if you need it and hopefully they'll open more sessions in the near future.

Therapy for Black Girls is a site entirely dedicated to helping Black girls and women find therapists in the US. If you don't necessarily need a full therapy session, there is also a podcast that covers a variety of topics like social media and mental health, relationships, parenting, etc.

Bonhome made a post on Twitter about offering pro bono sessions for anyone participating in the Georgia protests.

Tonya Ingram, a Black poet, has a 30 day self-care project on her website. You provide your email address and, every day for 30 days, you get an email with prompts and affirmations to help you think and get through the day. She also has a book called How to Survive Today which you can get a print copy of, or you can purchase a fillable e-book. How to Survive Today is similar to the 30 days of self-care where you are given prompts and lines of poetry to help inspire and encourage you.

Essence recently published an article sharing a ton of resources for Black-centered therapy suggestions. They also acknowledge that some have lost their jobs due to COVID, sot here are a lot of free resources on this list.
